What does postpartum doula do?

As your postpartum doula I will hold space for you and provide guidance during your personal journey. I can assist by providing practical, informational, and emotional support.

Practical
  • Sibling support: assist with siblings in your home while you rest or care for baby

  • Breast and/or bottle feeding support

  • Errands: either for you or with you as you learn to venture out with baby

  • Tidying of the home: newborn laundry, dishes, etc.

  • Light meal preparation

  • Help you get settled after bringing baby home

  • Tend to baby while you heal and rest

Emotional
  • Listen to your birth story

  • Partner support: help your partner/support person adjust to their new role, listen to concerns, etc.

  • Discuss postpartum mood changes

  • Guide you in your new parental role 

Informational
  • Evidence-based information on normal newborn behavior, sleep patterns, soothing techniques, etc.

  • Access to my lending library

  • Referrals to area groups and practitioners

Booking a postpartum doula package gives you access to my lending library. You may borrow up to 2 books for 4 weeks. Here are the books I currently have on hand:

I provide postpartum doula services in the greater Madison, Wisconsin area including the communities of Cottage Grove, Cross Plains, Fitchburg, Madison, McFarland, Middleton, Monona, Oregon, Stoughton, Sun Prairie, and Verona.

Fee information

Postpartum doula services include a complimentary 30-minute consultation and one (1-hour) postpartum planning visit. Consultations can be completed over the phone or in person at a neutral location. Postpartum visits are completed in the home, preferably with all family members present.

A 50% non-refundable booking fee paid upon hire, remaining balance for services paid in full prior to start date.

Gift cards are available and make a great baby shower gift. 

Daytime Hours:

 

Package 1: 28-36 Hours :: $20/hour

Package 2: 19-27 Hours :: $21/hour

Package 3: 10-18 Hours :: $23/hour

Package 4:     3-9 Hours :: $25/hour

Overnight Hours:

10 pm - 6 am :: $200/per night

$30 per hour for additional nighttime hours
